This middle school continues the thesis of Pinocchio that we are all creators, one of Tolkien's theses. via the reading of the Lord of the Rings trilogy over the course of three years, and then watching the films in the fourth year. Students also have the option of studying the movie The Professional, if their guardians approve, in the fourth year, and encouraged to take care of a plant, as Matilda did, to foster the idea of "roots".
In my own case, I grew strawberry plants in that time, putting them in clay pots. I was living in a riverside mill town and became acquainted with Jack Kerouac's life and experiences in Lowell, although the church was closed which is perhaps more important than it seems.
